“My focus has been on this big fight. My entire focus was on it. When my entire focus is on training, I just do 100 percent that and nothing else. This is the new reality. I’m going to have to look at what’s going on, and I’m actually looking forward to it. I do think a title shot is there. I’m very confident with the team and the people around me that we could pull that off. But let’s negotiate and see what happens… But I’m not done yet. I’m going to keep going, so I’m already going to head back into camp in January and I’m going to be ready for what’s going to happen next.”

Penick’s Analysis: I think Overeem will wind up staying with the UFC, and a title fight is absolutely a possibility in 2016. A three fight winning streak in this weak heavyweight division is typically more than enough, and given he just stopped a former Champion in dos Santos, he should be in line soon anyway. There are other fighters who could be in the mix themselves, but Overeem made a solid case for his shot on Saturday night.
