UFC confirms Paige VanZant vs. Rose Namajunas as new UFC Fight Night 80 headliner

The UFC has confirmed a change to the UFC Fight Night 80 main event, as Joanne Calderwood is out with an injury.

Rose Namajunas steps in a month and a half’s notice to face Paige VanZant on the Dec. 10 card, which will air live on UFC Fight Pass.

Penick’s Analysis: An interesting note on this fight is that it may be the youngest combined age for a pair of headliners in UFC history. Namajunas is only 23, and VanZant just 21, so it’s a unique spot for them to be in. Of course, it’s a UFC Fight Pass event, and the fans attending may not necessarily see them as a worthy “headliner” for a UFC card, but it’s a considerable distinction, nonetheless.
