UFC Champ Joanna Jedrzejcyzk into UFC 193: “Nobody’s going to take this belt from me”

By Jamie Penick, MMATorch Editor-in-Chief

“Nobody’s going to take this belt from me… It isn’t that I’m scared to lose. I do not want to lose or feel that emotion. I know that if I were to lose, that I would have still given absolutely everything of myself. I know that I would have a clean conscience and soul since I gave it all. But, I will be the champion for a long time.”

-UFC Women’s Strawweight Champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk talks to Chris Olech in Poland about her title reign, and why she doesn’t plan on relinquishing that belt anytime soon.

Penick’s Analysis: Jedrzejczyk is such an entertaining personality, and that she’s brought such violence to the strawweight division in two title fights makes her must-see TV. The language barrier is only a slight detriment to what her star power can be, and getting paired with Ronda Rousey next month is the best thing that the UFC could have done for her. If she gets the eyes on her that are expected to be on this card, and has a performance against Valerie Letourneau similar to what she did against Carla Esparza and Jessica Penne, she could take another step up in stardom. It would be great to see, because Joanna Champion is excellent.
