In some unfortunate injury news for Bellator MMA, Michael “Venom” Page is out of their March 4 event, and will be replaced by Gilbert Smith against Fernando Gonzalez.
The bout is scheduled for the main card of Bellator 151, which hits the WinStar World Casino in Thackerville, Okla., headlined by the bantamweight bout between Joe Warren and Darrion Caldwell.
Smith, who made one appearance in the UFC after a stint on The Ultimate Fighter 17, makes his Bellator debut after a 3-1 stint in RFA. That includes consecutive stoppage wins over Benjamin Smith and Bristol Marunde.
He’ll now take on Gonzalez, who hopes to win his fifth straight MMA fight in the Bellator cage. Gonzalez took a kickboxing bout against Paul Daley in his last outing, losing a decision. In his last MMA fight in May of 2015, he submitted Curtis Millender to move to 24-13 overall in his career.
