Ronda Rousey’s pro wrestling aspirations still alive; UFC Champ wants to be part of WWE’s “Divas Revolution”

By Jamie Penick, MMATorch Editor-in-Chief

“I’m ready. I’ve seen NXT, I remember Nattie and Charlotte’s match for the title. Nattie was actually training with the original Four Horsewomen to get ready for that fight. I have so many obligations, but I really want to find a way to make it happen. I’m a huge fan wrestling, and I would like to see the position of women in the sport continue to improve, so if I can be a part of it, great… I’m really encouraged by the progress I’ve seen with what they’re doing with the women in WWE, but I feel like there’s a lot more than can be done. They’re doing some of it now, too. I’m really excited that they’ve brought up all these great women from NXT, who are all different from the normal mold they would use for the Divas division. I’m not going to take credit for anything, but I definitely want to be part of it as much as I can.”

-UFC Champ Ronda Rousey continues to keep her eye on a potential run in professional wrestling, telling Rolling Stone that she’d like to play a part in the WWE’s current “Divas Revolution.”

Penick’s Analysis: Given her tenacity and the way she’s accomplished past goals, I think we’ll eventually see her actually have some type of run with the WWE. Just what that will constitute, and how long it will last, is anyone’s guess, but it’s quite obviously an interest that isn’t going to die down anytime soon. It’s simply a matter of finding a moment in time that works away from her film and fighting schedules, and that makes sense for her and the WWE. That time will come, though, and when it does we’ll find out whether or not she can conquer another endeavor the way she has in MMA.
