New UFC Champion Tyron Woodley, who knocked out Robbie Lawler at UFC 201, said afterward he wanted either Nick Diaz at UFC 202 or GSP at UFC 205 in New York. Well, Georges St-Pierre seems willing to oblige him.
Asked by MMAFighting.com’s Ariel Helwani if he wanted the fight with Woodley, St-Pierre twice said, simply, “yes.”
Woodley pounced on that, responding on Twitter and urging the UFC to make it happen.
@arielhelwani That makes two of us @GeorgesStPierre Let's make history @Ufc @danawhite #UFC #UFCMSG https://t.co/crDqxZVCez

Penick’s Analysis: If you’re going to have someone usurp Stephen Thompson as the next challenger, St-Pierre is much, much more palatable an option than Diaz. He never lost the title, he’s one of the biggest draws in the history of the UFC, he’s one of the greatest fighters to have ever competed in the sport, and if he wants the fight they should make the fight. St-Pierre in their Madison Square Garden debut in November seems like a no-brainer, and if Woodley’s an acceptable opponent for him, get it done.
