Sunday thoughts From the world of MMA

A title shot for Ferguson?

Dana White is non-committal on Tony Ferguson getting the next title shot after Khabib-Poirier. Part of me thinks  that if Khabib has a “GSP” clause in his contract,  the door needs to be open for that fight  immediately if Khabib beats Poirier.

If he does get that shot…

Tony Ferguson gets taken down repeatedly by Khabib Nurmagomedov if they ever do fight. I just don’t see Tony being the guy to beat Khabib. I would argue he is not even the toughest matchup in the division for the champion.

Cejudo proves himself, but Sterling might be a problem.

All the talk of Henry Cejudo struggling with bigger fighters was pretty much laid to rest last night. I have been on Cejudo for awhile. I will say however, Aljamain Sterling ,with his length, is going to pose a problem for Cejudo.

Looking ahead to UFC 239!

If you though UFC 238 was stacked, have you caught your breath long enough to look at the card for UFC 239? Holy stacked! What a Summer for the UFC!

Suarez raises questions.

Tatiana Suarez showed some weaknesses in her game last night. Nina Ansaroff was in no position to expose them, but my feeling is Jessica Andrade could.

Cowboy is still amazing!

Donald Cerrone’s career renaissance was and is an amazing story, regardless of last nights outcome.

Shevchenko elevates Nunes.

Watching Valentina Shevchenko’s performance last night made me think of one thing: How good is Amanda Nunes?

But what else is left for her?

That said looking at the 125 pound division for the women makes me think Valentina is going to get bored quick. A wasteland is an understatement.

UFC in Boston?

I’ve been hearing rumors long before Dana White said it last night that the UFC wants to return to Boston this fall. It would figure that Rob Font, Calvin Kattar And Kyle Bochniak  would all be on the card.

Not impressed by Yan.

Petr Yan did not impress me last night. His hands are fast, but by god mix in some head movement and his feet are so heavy.

Does Hill belong?

Angela hill is great and all, but she proved to me last night she just doesn’t belong in the UFC.
