Three more fights have been added to the Oct. 1 UFC Fight Night 96 event in Portland, Ore., with the UFC announcing Will Brooks vs. Alex Oliveira, Josh Burkman vs. Bobby Green, and Kelly Faszholz vs. Ketlen Vieira for the event on Monday night.
Brooks, the former Bellator Lightweight Champion, made a successful UFC debut in July, defeating Ross Pearson by decision at The Ultimate Fighter 23 Finale. He now welcomes Oliveira back to the lightweight division after “Cowboy” had a two fight stint at welterweight. The Brazilian has hopped between the two divisions through his UFC run, and comes back down after a decision win over James Moontasri just last Saturday night at UFC on Fox 20.
Burkman, a former champion in the World Series of Fighting, has won just one of five fights since returning to the UFC in 2015. He likely gets one more chance off a loss to Paul Felder, while Green tries to bounce back from consecutive losses suffered just over 19 months apart. He returned from that lengthy layoff in June at UFC 199, only to get knocked out in the first round by Dustin Poirier.
Women’s bantamweights Faszholz and Vieira seek a win in the Octagon, with the undefeated Vieira making her UFC debut while Faszholz tries to bounce back from a loss to Lauren Murphy in her own UFC debut in February.
The UFC Fight Night 96 event in Portland airs live on Fox Sports 1. No headliner has yet been set, but the card will be the UFC’s first in Oregon since UFC 102 in August of 2009.
