UFC 332 was this past weekend and featured a lot of exciting fights, including a big UFC Flyweight Championship fight. Who won and who lost? Let’s get to the rundown.
UFC 332
GOOD- Roman Kopylov stops Ateba Gautier
Kopylov starts off with leg kicks before Gautier attacks the body. Kopylov lands a big left hand then a 1-2 that drops Gautier. Hammerfists follow and the referee has to jump in to stop the fight a bit over three minutes into the first round.
Kopylov improves to 16-5 while Gautier drops to 11-2 and has his 10 fight winning streak snapped. Good win for Kopylov.
GOOD- Roberto Soldic vs. Kalinn “Khaos” Williams
Khaos works the body with punches and drops Soldic with a right hook. Williams is overwhelming Soldic with punches until Soldic eventually gets a takedown and stays on top until the first round ends. The second round begins with Soldic looking completely different and now he’s the one overwhelming Williams. Soldic is dominating with his striking and doing whatever he wants. Soldic takes the fight to the ground and is dominating there also and the second round ends. The third round starts with more of the same, Soldic dominating the round with his striking and also getting a takedown. The fight ends so we go to the judges to render their verdict.
Soldic wins the decision to improve to 22-4 with 1 No Contest while Williams drops to 16-6. Good win for Soldic.
GOOD- Esteban Ribovics stops King Green
Ribovics starts off throwing strikes from multiple angles as Green returns fire. Ribovics knocks Green down with a big combination. Green is tough but gets dropped again. Ribovics works some ground-and-pound but Green stands, only to get dropped again and the referee jumps in to stop the fight a little over four minutes into the first round.
Ribovics improves to 17-3 while Green drops to 36-18-1 with 1 No Contest and has his 4 fight winning streak snapped. Good win for Ribovics.
GOOD- Payton Talbott stops Deiveson Figueiredo
They start off trading leg kicks before Talbott mixes in an elbow and body kick that hurts Figueiredo. Talbott’s power is the decider as he drops Figueiredo and lands a few more punches to force the referee to jump in to stop the fight a little over two minutes into the first round.
Talbott improves to 12-1 and has won 3 straight fights while Figueiredo drops to 25-8-1 and lost 3 straight fights. Good win for Talbott.
GOOD- Natalia Silva vs. Wang Cong
This fight was to crown the new UFC Flyweight Champion.
They trade strikes early until Silva gets a takedown off of a caught kick. She lets her up and they clinch against the fence for most of the rest of the first round. The second round begins with more quick striking exchanges until Silva drops Wang with a big head kick.
Wang is up and they clinch until Silva gets another takedown. Wang is up and the second round ends. The third round starts with more striking exchanges, with Silva keeping Wang at bay with her kicks. Wang lands some good strikes of her own but Silva is matching her.
The fourth round opens with a lot of kicks being thrown and landed. Wang is turning it on and upping her pace. They hurt each other with strikes but keep battling hard and the fourth round ends. The fifth round commences with both women being very active. Both fighters are tired but are pushing through it. Silva is hurt but Wang can’t summon the energy to press her advantage too much. The fight ends so we go to the judges to render their verdict.
Silva wins the decision to improve to 21-5-1 and has won 15 straight fights while Wang drops to 10-2 and has her 4 fight winning streak snapped. Good win for Silva, who is the new UFC Flyweight Champion.
