One-time UFC Flyweight Title challenger Kyoji Horiguchi is getting back to the cage on May 8, with the UFC announcing Wednesday that he’ll take on Neil Seery at UFC Fight Night 87.
Horiguchi started out strong in his UFC run, scoring four straight wins en route to a title shot against Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson. He would lose that fight in a last second armbar submission in the fifth and final round, but he bounced back with a win over Chico Camus in his return to action last September in his home country of Japan.
Ireland’s Seery is ten years Horiguchi’s elder, and enters this event in Rotterdam off a home country win of his own, a second round submission over Jon Delos Reyes. Seery has won three of five in the Octagon thus far, with his losses coming against Brad Pickett and Louis Smolka by decision.
UFC Fight Night 87 will be the UFC’s first ever event in The Netherlands, airing live on Fox Sports 1 with a main event between Alistair Overeem and Andrei Arlovski.
