“He’s a great wrestler. But other than that, we’re not wrestling – it’s a mixed martial arts competition, and I’ll be prepared… At the end of the day, I look at the guys he’s fought, and I look at all the guys I’ve fought. I’ve accomplished a lot of things in this sport. He has his accolades, and everybody has a resume coming into mixed martial arts. This is the easiest sport to get real famous, real quick in. The man has 10 total fights in his career, so that shows you how fast you can jump and get to the pinnacle real fast.”
-Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson talks to MMAJunkie.com about why Henry Cejudo’s Olympic credentials don’t mean much to him.
Penick’s Analysis: Cejudo’s certainly done “enough” to get a title fight in a division where Johnson’s beaten everyone else, but though he’s had some nice wins, there isn’t a ton that stands out to suggest he’s capable of taking out the champ. Johnson’s got so many aspects to his game that Cejudo’s never faced from anyone else, and this fight is a real jump up in skill level from what Cejudo’s been seeing in the cage thus far. It’s going to take Cejudo doing something we haven’t seen from him yet in order to be the man to take the title away from Johnson.
