Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal picked up a $300,000 payday in Japan last week, winning Rizin’s inaugural heavyweight tournament over two events by defeating Brett McDermott, Teodoras Aukstuolis, and Jiri Prochazka. Now, he wants Fedor Emelianenko in a Bellator cage.

That’s what the former Strikeforce Light Heavyweight Champion called for on Twitter this week, suggesting they bring that matchup to the U.S.

Emelianenko hopes to fight again by April, and is negotiating with Rizin FF after a one-fight deal with the new organization. However, with that organization’s relationship with Viacom, Spike, and Bellator MMA, it’s possible something could come together.

Penick’s Analysis: I doubt it’s likely they’d fight in Bellator, but it could be possible for it to happen in Japan if Rizin puts together another event in the summer in Japan as has been discussed. I just don’t see Fedor ending up in Bellator based on the way things went last fall for his return, and if anything it would have to be Lawal going after him. It would be a more interesting fight for Emelianenko than many of the other options available, but I’m just not sure it’s the way things will play out.
