UFC Women’s Bantamweight contender and Ultimate Fighter 18 winner Julianna Pena was arrested on assault charges early Sunday after an alleged bar fight in Spokane, Wash.

A poster on Sherdog claimed to have witnessed the arrest, and a report from MMAFighting.com confirmed that account with the Spokane Police Department. Per the report, Pena was arrested at 2:20AM PT, and booked at 2:53PM PT. Pena allegedly identified herself as a professional fighter when police were called to the scene, and was arrested alongside one other individual. She was released on $2,000 bail Sunday afternoon.

The #6 ranked UFC Women’s Bantamweight is facing up to a year in jail and a $5,000 fine on the assault charge. The UFC as well is aware of the situation, though no action has yet been taken.

Penick’s Analysis: Less known fighters than Pena have gotten into similar issues without repercussion from the UFC, so I don’t expect much to come out of this. Still, it’s certainly not good for a professional fighter to be getting in bar fights, and it can’t be something they tolerate for long.
