UFC on Fox 17 “Dos Anjos vs. Cerrone II” draws 2.28 million viewers in fast overnight ratings

Saturday’s UFC on Fox 17 broadcast drew 2.28 million viewers in the fast overnight ratings, according to a report from TV By The Numbers.

The numbers are in line with overnight figures for the most recent Fox card, July’s UFC on Fox 16 from Chicago, and last December’s UFC on Fox 13 event. The former drew 2.29 million viewers in the overnights, while the latter brought in 2.27 million viewers overnight last year. Final numbers will rise from that with west coast viewership taken into account later this week.

Saturday’s event was topped by Rafael dos Anjos’ first title defense, as he defended the UFC Lightweight Championship with a brutal 66-second assault over Donald Cerrone. The two hour main card broadcast also featured Alistair Overeem’s TKO victory over former UFC Heavyweight Champion Junior dos Santos.

Penick’s Analysis: Solid numbers comparatively speaking. Dos Anjos was on Fox as he wasn’t seen as a pay-per-view draw, and though Cerrone has his fanbase he’s not among the highest drawing fighters either. That it came at the tail end of a ridiculous nine day run probably didn’t help, either, but keeping a steady viewership from those who typically tune in to Fox is a decent mark to hit.
