Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson has had a lot of impressive and dominant performances in his time as UFC Flyweight Champion, but he may have topped himself Saturday night at UFC 197.

Taking on undefeated former Olympic gold medalist Henry Cejudo, Johnson scored a first round TKO off a vicious series of elbows and knees in the clinch, defending his title for the eighth straight time, and winning his tenth straight fight overall.

Cejudo actually scored a takedown on the champion early in the round, a very rare occurrence in the cage, but Johnson didn’t give him any room to deliver any further offense, and wound up quickly kicking him off to get back up to his feet. He then utilized a far superior clinch game to perfect effect, first rocking Cejudo before chasing him across the cage and setting up the finishing sequence.

It was yet another incredible performance from Johnson, and gives him as great an argument as he’s ever had to take over the top spot in MMA’s subjective pound for pound rankings.
