By: Frank Hyden, MMATorch Senior Columnist

UFC Fight Night: Moicano vs. Nolan was this past weekend and featured a lot of exciting fights. Who won and who lost? Let’s get to the rundown.

UFC Fight Night: Moicano vs. Nolan
GOOD- Jean-Paul Lebosnoyani stops Farman Hasanov
They trade some strikes before Hasanov gets a takedown. Lebosnoyani is quickly back to his feet, however. They continue trading stiff strikes throughout the rest of the first round. The second round begins the same way as before, as they trade some strikes before Hasanov gets a takedown. Again, JPL is right back to his feet. They go back to trading strikes, with Lebosnoyani nearly doubling up his opponent. The third round starts with more striking. The area around Hasanov’s left eye is severely damaged. He’s fighting on, though. JPL continues battering him until the referee pauses the fight to have the cageside doctor examine Hasanov’s cut. The entire underneath of Hasanov’s left eyebrow is flapping loose so the doctor stops the fight a bit over two minutes into the third round.
Lebosnoyani improves to 12-2 and has won 7 straight fights while Hasanov drops to 5-1. Good win for Lebosnoyani.

GOOD- Yana Santos vs. Luana Santos
They clinch on the fence early as Luana keeps trying for trip takedowns. Nearly all clinching against the fence in the first round. The second round begins with a little bit of striking before Luana gets a takedown. Yana is up to her feet but Luana drags her back down. They grapple for a bit, including Yana getting to her feet before Luana gets another takedown. The third round starts with some striking before Luana gets a takedown and stays glued to Yana for the rest of the fight. Maybe not the most exciting fight but effective strategy from Luana. We go to the judges to render their verdict.
Luana Santos wins the decision to improve to 12-2 and has won 4 straight fights while Yana Santos drops to 17-9 with 1 No Contest and has her 3 fight winning streak snapped. Good win for Yana.

GOOD- Ode Osbourne vs. Cody Durden
They trade some strikes until Durden gets a takedown and works his ground-and-pound and threatens submissions for the rest of the first round. The second round begins with a stalemate as Durden tries for a takedown. He keeps working at it and gets it. Osbourne works his way to his feet and they trade some strikes until Durden gets another takedown. Osbourne gets up and they trade strikes until a third Durden takedown ends the second round. The third round starts with Durden getting a takedown, though Osbourne reverses into top position. Things have slowed way down and the fight ends. We go to the judges to render their verdict.
Durden wins the decision to improve to 19-11-1 while Osbourne drops to 13-10 with 2 No Contests. Good win for Durden.

GOOD- Randy Brown vs. Jacobe Smith
They trade some strikes until Smith gets a takedown late in the first round and uses his ground-and-pound until the round ends. The second round begins with more striking exchanges until Smith gets a takedown in the early part of this round. Smith works his ground-and-pound from on top as Brown fights hard off of his back. Brown is threatening with submissions but Smith drops a bunch of elbows and opens a big cut on Brown’s head and the second round ends. The third round starts with some strikes being traded before Smith gets another takedown. They grapple for the rest of the fight, with Smith dropping elbows and hammerfists and Brown trying to survive. We go to the judges to render their verdict.
Smith wins the decision to improve to a perfect 14-0 while Brown drops to 20-9 and has lost 3 straight fights. Good win for Smith.

GOOD- Tom Nolan stops Renato Moicano
They start off trading heavy strikes until Moicano gets a takedown and threatens with submissions. Nolan stands but gets drug back down again and punched in the face as the first round ends. The second round begins with Nolan landing some punishing strikes before Moicano gets another takedown. The referee restarts them when Moicano had Nolan’s back and that was odd to say the least. I know the crowd was booing the lack of action, I was too, but I don’t know if that’s the right way to handle this. Nolan lands some strikes before getting a takedown of his own. The third round starts with powerful strikes being traded before Moicano goes for a takedown but loses position and Nolan is on top. Nolan starts dropping heavy elbows and punches until the referee is forced to jump in to stop the fight a minute and a half into the third round.
Nolan improves to 12-1 and has won 6 straight fights while Moicano drops to 21-8-1. Good win for Nolan.

My new epic fantasy book is out. It’s called Kingdom of Zarias: The End’s Beginning. The exciting epic fantasy series Kingdom of Zarias returns with the 4th book in the series. After the harrowing events of Book 3 the residents of the Kingdom of Zarias continue on their paths. Serena Summers continues to learn and grow as a fighter, desperately seeking to become stronger before she loses anyone else in her life. Daniel Summers discovers new parts of the world that open his eyes to just how little he truly knows. A new hero, Lamar Abeers, arrives to join the fight against evil. Plus, Zach Summers, Tiana Highsmith, and Xavien Ekens continue their journeys with their friends, and a new ruler of Vhaharen is crowned. The world has found a little peace. However, that peace is only temporary. In a shocking act of violence, the monstrous villain Galren strikes from the shadows and changes the world forever. This is Book 4 in the series. There’s lots of action, magic, and monsters in the Kingdom of Zarias. It’s like a tabletop game in novel form. It’s on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and many other places. Also, my line of comic books are now available under the 3P Comics label. If you’re interested, I would greatly appreciate it if you would check it out and support me.
