I’ll go with McGregor by TKO in the second round. I think McGregor will come out and blitz Cerrone early but then back off a bit so he doesn’t get caught with anything. I think that will set the tone and McGregor comes out in the second round and starts peppering Cerrone with strikes and gets the finish in the first few minutes. I’m expecting some explosive striking and the atmosphere should be electric and that should bring out the best in McGregor. I give Cerrone a shot but I think McGregor should finish him.

I’m just not 100% convinced that Conor McGregor is coming into this fight at full capacity. He’s had many out of the cage distractions this past year and his recent comments that the first one to shoot for a takedown is a “cowbitch” tells me that he doesn’t feel confident in his ground game. “Rampage” Jackson started making similar comments late in his UFC career and there’s a pretty much direct correlation between that and when he started losing most of his fights. I have zero doubts as to whether Donald Cerrone is going to show up motivated and ready to fight on Saturday so for that reason I like “Cowboy” to get the submission win in the third round.

My heart wants Cerrone to win but my head is telling me McGregor is going to take the win here, he will be too quick, too slick for Cowboy and will finish him early.

This is a very difficult fight to predict. On one hand, Conor McGregor is a fast starter with knockout power that has put champions to sleep. On the other hand, Donald Cerrone is the ironman of the UFC, able to go to war with anyone at any time.
If Donald Cerrone can drag Conor into the later rounds, he will win. Conor has no gas tank so it’s as simple as weathering the storm with him. I think Cerrone has too many tools at his disposal for Conor. There is a lot to overcome in order for McGregor to pull out this victory and that knockout power I spoke of, that power doesn’t translate very well for Conor at 170lbs. Cerrone has got this one, so what comes next?
