Tony Ferguson should just sit and wait for Dana White to make the fight with Khabib Nurmagomedov. Other than that, I suppose he could beat up Conor for some money but that’s just another L for Conor and his shelf life is going pretty fast.

Ferguson should fight the winner of Khabib Nurmagomedov vs. Dustin Poirier. He’s done more than enough to earn a title shot. I understand the end of his fight with Donald Cerrone was a little controversial but not enough to stop him from getting the next title shot. Fighters in other divisions have earned title shots with way less of a resume than Ferguson. There’s no good reason to not give Ferguson the next title shot.

Tony Ferguson should get a title shot after defeating Donal Cerrone. Lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov is already booked to fight Dustin Poirier at UFC 242, but after that “El Cucuy” should be next in line. He was in control against Cerrone, and even though the fight ended in controversy, the outcome would have been the same. The win over “Cowboy” moves Ferguson up to 12 straight in a very tough division.

First off, Tony Ferguson should be sure that his mental health and family life are in order before fighting again. Ferguson is in an excellent position right now where he has proven his worth as the top lightweight contender, and I would actually argue that he is the best lightweight in the world right now. Khabib Nurmagomedov vs. Dustin Poirier is still three months away so he’s looking at a good six months before he can get a crack at the winner but maybe that’s OK. The long layoffs between fights haven’t seemed to hinder Ferguson’s performances in the cage at all so the best thing for him would be to sit on the sidelines, sort out his personal life and take on the Khabib-Poirier winner at the end of the year.
