Khabib, McGregor Suspended
It originally seemed that Conor McGregor would avoid any discipline for his role in the brawl at UFC 229 last weekend, but that now appears not to be the case. ESPN’s Ariel Helwani reported Thursday night that McGregor along with Khabib Nurmagomedov have both been temporarily suspended by the Nevada Athletic Commission (NAC). The suspensions will be temporary, 10-day bans beginning on Oct. 15 leading to a hearing scheduled for Oct. 24. At the hearing, the commission will vote on whether to suspend either or both fighters further.
Backstage ‘Chaos’ Prior to Fight
UFC commentator Jon Anik shed some light on how outside factors may have affected McGregor’s performance at UFC 229. On his “Anik and Florian” podcast, Anik stated that McGregor’s “confidence didn’t seem there.” He also shared that there were “rumblings about some circumstances or some things backstage.”
When probed further by a Twitter follower, Anik elaborated on these rumblings.
“I was just told it was unnecessarily chaotic back there, lot of people coming in and out of the locker room,” Anik wrote. “He also got wrapped by a cutman who hadn’t wrapped him before supposedly, which, while no big deal, still deviated from his norm. That’s all.”
No not injured. I was just told it was unnecessarily chaotic back there, lot of people coming in and out of the locker room. He also got wrapped by a cutman who hadn’t wrapped him before supposedly, which, while no big deal, still deviated from his norm. That’s all.

It seems that even the “Notorious” Conor McGregor isn’t immune from distractions while on the job.
