Bellator 252 Review

Float like a Featherweight

Daniel Weichel vs. Emmanuel Sanchez

Featherweight Grand Prix Quarterfinal

This was quite the back and forth affair at certain points.  Weichel had a lot of opportunities to show off his chin.  Sanchez seemed to always have the upper hand.  Sanchez didn’t necessarily walk Weichel down, but he never let him get out of whatever corner he had him backed into.  Sanchez just added a pretty significant win to his resume, and it looked good.  Way to move on in the tournament young man.

Rating: 8/10

Result: Unanimous Decision for Emmanuel Sanchez

Razor Thin Victory

Yaroslav Amosov vs. Logan Storley

Welterweight Fight

Amosov had a very real chance to win this fight in the first round, he had Stroley in a choke but could hold on long enough.  Storley turned the fight into a brawl and landed some big time shots on Amosov.  Storley also used his wrestling that he’s known for to keep himself in it on the scorecard.  This fight had a little bit of everything, call it a buffet of mixed martial arts.  The judges even had a tough time with this one as it ended in a split decision.  This one will get talked about for a while, it truly could have gone either way.

Rating: 8/10

Result: Split Decision for Yaroslav Amosov

Pitbull Strong

Patricio Pitbull vs. Pedro Carvalho

Featherweight Grand Prix Quarterfinal

World Championship

This one didn’t take very long at all.  Pitbull stayed patient, and picked his spots.  He almost submitted Carvalho, but he abandoned it when he realized that he needed to soften him up a bit more.  That wasn’t necessary when you have heavy hands like Pitbull does.  Pitbull caught him with a one-two combo and put him down easy.  Only took a shade over two minutes.  He’s the champ for a reason, and I don’t know if anyone in this tournament can take the belt from him.

Rating: 7.5/10

Result: 1st Round TKO for Patricio Pitbull
