Darren Till will debut at middleweight against Kelvin Gastelum at UFC 244.
Darren Till’s move up to middlewweight will start with former interim title challenger Kelvin Gastelum. According to ESPN, Till will fight Gastelum at UFC 244 on Nov. 2 at Madison Square Garden in New York.
The fight will be the first for Till after previously fighting at welterweight. Till is 5-2-1 since debuting in the UFC in 2015. Despite being classified as a welterweight, Till has missed weight on two occasions.
Till was previously undefeated before he failed to capture the welterweight title from then-champion Tyron Woodley at UFC 228, in September 2018. Recently, Till fell via KO to Jorge Masvidal in March.
Till’s opponent is also a former welterweight-turned-middleweight.
Since moving to middleweight (after missing weight on multiple occasions) Gastelum has gone 3-2 with a victory over Vitor Belfort that was overturned due to Gastelum testing positive for a marijuana metabolite.
Gastelum’s most recent fight, an interim title bout loss to Israel Adesanya, was widely praised as a classic fight.
UFC 244 will be the UFC’s fourth trip to Madison Square Garden, will all the events taking place in the month of November.
