Tonight, at UFC 239, Ben Askren and Jorge Masvidal meet in a clash of welterweight contenders. Who wins?

I think Askren wins by decision. Masvidal might land some good strikes but I think Askren fights through it and uses his wrestling to blanket Masvidal and get the decision. It won’t be an exciting fight but Askren will show that his wrestling is not to be underestimated.

Jorge Masvidal seems to on the path to big things at welterweight. Things nearly went really bad for Ben Askren when he fought Robbie Lawler and this is an equally if not more dangerous matchup for him. He may not get the knockout, but I think Masvidal can pick Askren apart standing and avoid enough takedowns to get the decision win.

No way Jorge Masvidal is getting past Ben Askren’s elite level wrestling. Unless Masvidal catches Ben going in, Askren will be receiving a title shot in his very next fight in the UFC. Masvidal is looking past Askren and that’s a big mistake. This fight won’t be close at all; Askren by a late round-1 submission.

This one is strange for me. I still do not think Askren can hand with the top welterweight strikers (As sorta illustrated by Robbie Lawler) At the same time, I could absolutely see Akren grinding out a decision victory here. I am going to pick Askren, with only the slightest amount of confidence.
