After 16 UFC fights, the UFC has released bantamweight contender, John Lineker.
The UFC has released John Lineker.
Weeks after pleading with the UFC to give him a fight, mmajunkie reported that after 16 fights, the UFC released Lineker.
Back in May, Lineker took to Twitter to express his frustration with the UFC for his recent career inactivity.
My last opponent fought 4 times in a year. He already has another fight! Sean likes him! I have fought only 4 times since 2016! I need to fight! If you dont like me or my style just let me go!!! @MMAjunkie @seanshelby @danawhite @Alexdavismma @ufc @MMAFighting @sherdogdotcom

Shortly thereafter, Lineker was booked to face Rob Font at UFC Greenville in June.
However, Lineker withdrew on the week of the fight.
Lineker has become known for his power, with six of his 12 UFC victories coming via KO or TKO.
Unfortunately, Lineker also gained a reputation for missing weight. Lineker fought as a catchweight on five occasions after failing to make weight. With four of those fights occurring while Lineker was fighting in the flyweight division.
Lineker’s most recent fight was a split-decision loss to Cory Sandhagen at UFC Fort Lauderdale in April.
Prior to the loss Sandhagen, Lineker was a two-fight winning streak, defeating Brian Kelleher, and Marlon Vera.
