Cracked

Liam McGeary lost a third-round TKO to Phil Davis at Bellator 220 Saturday night. Davis connected with a right hand, took McGeary down and finished the fight from the mount. It’s a tough loss for the former Bellator light heavyweight champ, but even tougher is the broken jaw he suffered in the process.

McGeary shared two photos from the hospital on his Instagram. One was a close up of his face, and the other, an x-ray that clearly shows the break in his jaw.

“Ugh… the jaw cracked in the second round and the tooth went in the 3rd,” McGeary wrote in the caption. “Soon as that arm came round and touched my jaw that was enough for me guys!! That hurt like a mutha fucka and you know I can take some shit too!!! Fuck it man, I was too worried about the takedowns in the first I was hesitant.”

He concluded the post with some kind words for his two-time opponent.

“Congrats (Phil Davis) good shit mate, enjoyed throwing down with you man. I’ll see you in the bar for a beer when I get done here.”

Arrest made after hit and run death

An arrest has been made after last week’s hit and run death of former UFC fighter Rodrigo de Lima by an Uber driver. Jefferson Roger Maciel Barata has been arrested in Brazil and confessed to the crime according to a report from UOL in Brazil and shared by MMAFighting.

Barata told police that De Lima punched him when he asked De Lima and his companions in the vehicle to lower their voices. Barata dropped them off and drove away only to return so he could, as he told police, “scare” De Lima and his friends. Video of the incident shows a car driving and striking an individual at a gas station. Barata will be charged with murder.
