Early Prelims

(1) Marcelo Golm (5-0) vs. Christian Colombo (8-2-1) – Heavyweight 265 lbs.

Result: Marcelo Golm over Christian Colombo by Submission – Rear Naked Choke (2:08 of Round 1)

Grocke’s POV: All Golm as expected in this one. He hurt Colombo on the feet in the opening seconds of the fight and it was just a matter of time from there. The biggest question in the fight was would Golm finish it on the feet ot the ground? I’d say it was an impressive debut but he was more than a 2-1 favorite and he did was expected.

(2) Deiveson Figueiredo (12-0) vs. Jarred Brooks (13-0) – Flyweight 125 lbs.

Result: Deiveson Figueiredo over Jarred Brooks by Split Decision  by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 29-28, 29-28)

Grocke’s POV: This was a fast paced, high energy fight with an absolute horrible decision. Brooks had a ton of success taking Figueiredo down throughout the fight. The only time Figueiredo was having success was when the fight was on the feet, but it wasn’t for long periods of time. I had the fight scored for Brooks, as did Cormier. Brutal scoring.

Prelims

(3) Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos (17-5) vs. Max Griffin (13-3) – Welterweight 170 lbs.

Result: Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos over Max Griffin by Unanimous Decision (29-28, 29-27, 29-28)

Grocke’s POV: How Max Griffin fought his way back into the fight after being seconds away from getting finished in the first round is beyond me. Had he come out in the second and got knocked out I was ready to go on a tirade about how irresponsible his corner was to have sent him back out. But, what a fun scrap. Both guys were hurt multiple times but continued to sling leather for all three rounds. Two tough men and a well deserved win for dos Santos.

(4) Hacran Dias (23-5-1) vs. Jared Gordon (13-1) – Lightweight 155 lbs.

Result: Jared Gordon over Hacran Dias by Unanimous Decision (29-26, 29-27, 30-26)

Grocke’s POV: The work rate and constant pressure from Gordon was unreal. He just constantly stayed in Dias face for all three rounds. Both guys took damage and were exhausted by the end of the fight. What a great performance by Gordon.

(5) Antonio Carlos Junior (9-2, 1 NC) vs. Jack Marshman (22-6) – Middleweight 185 lbs.

Result: Antonio Carlos Junior over Jack Marshman by Submission – Rear Naked Choke (4:30 of Round 1)

Grocke’s POV: All Carlos Junior in this one. Marshman looked over matched right from the opening horn. Once the fight went to the ground, it was just a matter of time before Carlos Junior took the back and sunk in the RNC.

(6) Vicente Luque (11-6-1) vs. Niko Price (10-0, 1 NC) – Welterweight 170 lbs.

Result: Vicente Luque over Niko Price by Submission – D’Arce Choke (4:08 of Round 2)

Grocke’s POV: That was the best I’ve ever seen Vicente Luque fight. His forward pressure kept Price on his back foot all fight. He destroyed Price’s lead leg and cut him over the left eye which was giving Price difficulty. Luque’s power really came through in this fight and it looked like once he had Price hurt he could have won by TKO or submission. Luque handed Price his first loss in a dominant performance.
