UFC hits Portland on Oct. 1 for UFC Fight Night event; first card in Oregon since 2009

The UFC announced on Saturday night that they’re returning to Portland, Ore., on Oct. 1 for the first time since 2009 for a UFC Fight Night event. The Saturday night slot means nine of the next ten Saturdays features a UFC event.

The organization has only run once before in the state of Oregon, bringing UFC 102 to the Rose Garden back in August of 2009. That event was headlined by the heavyweight matchup between Randy Couture and Antonio Rodrigo “Minotauro” Nogueira, and also featured some quick finishes with Nate Marquardt knocking Demian Maia out in 21 seconds and Todd Duffee stopping Tim Hague in just seven seconds.

The UFC schedule now has an event every Saturday from last night’s UFC on Fox 20 event in Chicago through October 1, with the exception of the weekend of August 13. That stretch features three more pay-per-view cards, one Fox event, and five “UFC Fight Night” cards.
