Bethe Correia has a return date and opponent, but it won’t be a previously reported bout with Jessica Eye. According to a reports from Ag Fight in Brazil and MMAFighting.com, Correia will now meet Raquel Pennington in her first since last August.
That bout will come at UFC on Fox 19 on April 16, which continues to fill up quickly this week.
Correia returns for the first time since her title loss to Ronda Rousey at UFC 190. She had talked her way into that matchup after wins over Rousey’s friends Jessamyn Duke and Shayna Baszler, but lasted just 34 seconds before getting taken out by TKO.
She’ll look for the bounce back win against Pennington, who picked up a great win in her most recent outing. The Ultimate Fighter 18 competitor has won two of her last three, submitting Ashlee Evans-Smith with a great last second bulldog choke finish and most recently taking out Jessica Andrade in another late round win at UFC 191 in September. Her loss in that stretch came by decision to current champ Holly Holm in Holm’s UFC debut.
UFC on Fox 19 has not yet been officially announced by the UFC, and no location has yet been reported, but the event is expected to be headlined by a five round lightweight contender bout between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson.
