An injury to Derek Anderson has brought another late change to Bellator’s first show of 2016.

Bellator officials announced on Tuesday that Patricky “Pitbull” Freire has agreed to step in on short notice for the Jan. 29 Bellator 148 event, taking on Ryan Couture on the main card on Spike.

Couture, the 33-year-old son of UFC Hall of Famer Randy Couture , has won four straight fights into this event since his release from the UFC. He’s submitted all four of his opponents in that stretch, including two first round submission wins in the Bellator cage over Tom Bagnasco and Dakota Cochrane.

He’ll try to keep that streak going against the heavy handed Freire, who looks to bounce back from a second decision loss to the aforementioned Anderson. The 30-year-old is 7-6 through 13 Bellator bouts, though he’s won four of his last six fights.

Bellator 148 hits Fresno’s SaveMart Center with a main event between Paul Daley and Andy Uhrich.
