Next week’s UFC 194 main event between Jose Aldo and Conor McGregor has just a little bit more on the line, with UFC President Dana White announcing on Thursday that the winner of that fight will join Ronda Rousey on the cover of EA Sports UFC 2.
White initially made the announcement on ESPN’s Sportscenter, then tweeted out the graphic below:
Aldo vs McGregor will #FightForTheCover of #EASPORTSUFC2. U can make ur prediction: https://t.co/z0TqYYqRnE pic.twitter.com/7ppQx2C4mn

EA Sports themselves also released a short video on the gameplay version of the two fighters:

Aldo and McGregor face off for the UFC Featherweight Championship in the Dec. 12 main event in Las Vegas, with Chris Weidman and Luke Rockhold meeting for the Middleweight Title in the co-main event.
Penick’s Analysis: Smart addition to the cover, though handled differently than Rousey’s reveal. That backfired a little bit with Rousey’s loss to Holly Holm, but her star power is still at the top for the organization, so her being on the cover still makes sense. If McGregor beats Aldo, his star will only go up, and the UFC will have their two biggest stars on that cover next year. Now, if Aldo retains, hopefully for his sake it’s the breakout win that finally raises his star to the level of his talent, and him being on the cover will be another boost to his profile.
