“I wasn’t too worried about it. Obviously that was a big fight. He’s a big draw but it wouldn’t have been good for him. Cause if I hurt him, I wasn’t taking his neck. [What would I have taken?] His soul. I’m a lot different that most people and he found a way out. Diaz took his neck and was nice to him. I’m just telling it like it is and how I saw it.”

-In a UFC 201 media appearance with WSB-TV in host city Atlanta, Robbie Lawler explains why the talked about Conor McGregor bout for UFC 200 – before McGregor’s loss to Nate Diaz – wouldn’t have ended well for the UFC Featherweight Champion (transcribed by FoxSports.com).

Penick’s Analysis: I believe him. Lawler’s a different breed of man. He’s beatable, but he’s got another kind of fire and violence, especially since he’s returned to the UFC, that combined with what would have been a significant size edge makes him a very scary opponent for McGregor. It didn’t happen because McGregor lost, but man this is a hell of a response to that question from Lawler.
