We could be getting a Jon Jones-Daniel Cormier confrontation out of the Octagon in relatively short order after some back and forth from the two on Twitter Friday.
It started with Jones apparently responding to Cormier’s continued insistence that he wouldn’t fight the former Champ in New York, with Jones saying he’s up for fighting Cormier absolutely anywhere.
Honestly I’d fight Daniel in the OSU wrestling room. John Smith can be our referee. Just trying to take back what’s mine

Cormier then responded, and the two have apparently set up an impromptu showdown in Albuquerque:
@JonnyBones if that’s how we wanna do it. I can be in new Mexico in a few hours. And we can do it every day until fight day comes.

Stay tuned. And, it seems, #BringYourKleenex.
Penick’s Analysis: I’m not putting it past Cormier to actually show up, but I doubt anything actually comes of this. Regardless, it’s clearer than even before that Jones is coming back to take the title that he never lost. It’s still likely to wind up happening by Super Bowl weekend, but the UFC may want to get someone on hand in New Mexico Saturday to make sure these two don’t do anything to lead to further negative consequences.
