Following a win over a debuting Melvin Guillard in August, Bellator lightweight Brandon Girtz returns to action late next month in a fight with Derek Campos.
Bellator MMA officials announced late Thursday night that Girtz-Campos has been added to their Nov. 20 card, Bellator 146, which heads to the Winstar World Casino in Thackerville, Okla., and airs live on Spike.
It’s actually a rematch of a 2013 bout, where Campos took a decision victory at Bellator 96 in this same arena. Campos also missed weight for that bout, and Girtz is seeking to avenge that loss. Girtz, 30, is 5-2 through seven bouts in the Bellator cage, with the Minnesota native picking up his biggest win in that last outing against the longtime vet in Guillard.
As for Campos, he’s been stopped in two of his last three fights. Patricky “Pitbull” Freire took him out by TKO in April of last year, and though he scored a bounce back KO over Estevan Payan, he was submitted by Michael Chandler in his most recent appearance.
Bellator 146 will be headlined by a middleweight bout between Hisaki Kato and Melvin Manhoef. The main card also features Bubba Jenkins vs. Jordan Parsons, and Ricky Rainey vs. Chidi Njokuani.
