Bellator is heading to Houston, Texas, and the Toyota Center for an event on Feb. 19, 2016, a “tentpole” card which will be headlined by a fight featuring Kevin “Kimbo Slice” Ferguson.
The event and main event plans were first reported by Jeremy Botter at The Houston Chronicle.
Ferguson made his Bellator debut in June, defeating Ken Shamrock in a fight that was originally supposed to happen for Elite XC on CBS in 2008. No opponent is yet set.
Penick’s Analysis: Given the Slice-Shamrock bout is now the most watched in Bellator history, drawing the highest MMA rating to Spike since the UFC was on the network, it’s not the least bit surprising that they’re booking him again. My first guess would be Slice against Bobby Lashley should Lashley defeat James Thompson next week at Bellator 145. Regardless, that’s likely to be Bellator’s first “tentpole” event for the year, and will likely draw the casual fan factor once again with Kimbo.
