UFC 100 has been believed to be the UFC’s biggest ever pay-per-view event, but current Featherweight Champion Conor McGregor says he blew that record away with UFC 196 in March.
Responding to fan questions on Twitter, McGregor said he holds every record, and gave out a figure that would make UFC 196 massive if accurate.

Penick’s Analysis: The most widely reported number for UFC 100 was 1.6 million buys, and UFC President Dana White said UFC 196 did 1.5 million shortly after the event. Did they wind up getting even more after the fact? Were White’s initial comments short changing things? If 1.6 million for UFC 100 was accurate, did McGregor and UFC 196 actually draw two million buys? This brings us a lot of questions that likely won’t bring accurate answers until the UFC actually opens up their books, and that’s just not happening until such day as they decide to go public.
