By: Frank Hyden, MMATorch Senior Columnist

UFC Fight Night: Grasso vs. Araujo was last night and featured some
exciting finishes. Who won and who lost? Let’s get to the rundown.

UFC Fight Night: Grasso vs. Araujo
GOOD- Alonzo Menifield stops Misha Cirkunov
Cirkunov starts off with a big leg kick. They trade punches as
Cirkunov tries some takedowns but can’t get anything going. Menifield
then smashes Cirkunov with a combination and that’s it. Menifield wins
not quite a minute and a half into the first round. Menifield improves
to 13-3 while Cirkunov drops to 15-9 and has lost 4 straight fights.
Good win for Menifield.

GOOD- Raphael Assuncao vs. Victor Henry
They start tentatively before throwing a few strikes here and there.
They start to open up as the round progresses, with Assuncao doing
more. The second round opens with them trading some strikes before
Assuncao gets a takedown. Assuncao works some ground-and-pound but
Henry gets up. They trade punches before Assuncao unloads on Henry and
gets another takedown. Henry gets up again but the round ends. The
third round starts with them trading strikes. Henry lands some nice
strikes but Assuncao gets the takedown. Henry gets up quickly, though.
Assuncao is tagging Henry with strikes but can’t take him down and the
fight ends. Assuncao gets the decision victory from the judges and
improves to 28-9 and snaps his 4 fight losing streak while Henry drops
to 22-6. Good win for Assuncao.

GOOD- Dusko Todorovic stops Jordan Wright
Wright reverses a takedown attempt by Todorovic and gets one of his
own. Wright works some good ground-and-pound before nearly getting an
arm triangle. Todorovic avoids it and stands but the round ends before
anything else can happen. Todorovic comes out on fire in the second
round and starts wailing on Wright, who seems gassed as he absorbs a
lot of punishment but does bust open Todorovic with a nice elbow.
However, Todorovic throws Wright down and moves straight to mount and
unloads hell on him until the referee is forced to jump in to stop the
fight a little over three minutes into the second round. Todorovic
improves to 12-3 while Wright drops to 12-4 with 1 No Contest and has
lost 3 straight fights. Good win for Todorovic.

GOOD- Jonathan Martinez stops Cub Swanson
Martinez quickly slips on a kick and Swanson goes for a guillotine.
They exchange a lot of kicks before Swanson gets a takedown. They
grapple a bit before getting up. Martinez lands another powerful leg
kick before dropping Swanson with a big knee. Swanson gets up but eats
a huge kick to the body that crumples him. The round ends to save him.
The second round starts with Martinez throwing punches. They go to the
ground where Martinez tries a submission and works some
ground-and-pound. They get up and a series of damaging leg kicks
destroy Swanson’s mobility and it’s over, the referee stops the fight
not quite four and a half minutes into the second round. Oh man, those
kicks hurt just to watch. Martinez improves to 17-4 and has won 4
straight fights while Swanson drops to 28-13. Good win for Martinez.

GOOD- Alexa Grasso vs. Vivianne Araujo
They trade hands for quite a while to start the fight before mixing in
a few kicks. They’re mainly just boxing until Araujo gets a takedown
but Grasso gets right back up. The second round is more of the same
until Araujo gets another takedown. Araujo works to advance but Grasso
gets back up eventually and starts pounding Araujo with strikes until
the second round ends. The third round opens with more boxing. It
largely stays that way, though they’re both throwing kicks as well.
Grasso is landing more combinations while Araujo is landing more
single strikes. We move to the fourth round and it’s essentially a
mirror of the third round. Lots of boxing with some kicks thrown in.
Araujo was more active in this round and it’s on to the fifth round.
Things have slowed as both women have thrown and taken a lot of
strikes. Araujo can’t get any of her takedowns and Grasso nails a long
combination to seal the deal. We go to the judges and Grasso wins the
decision to improve to 15-3 and has won 4 straight fights while Araujo
drops to 11-4. Good win for Grasso.

My new fantasy book is now out. It’s called Kingdom of Zarias: The Steep
Price of Revenge

they seek revenge for the wrongs inflicted on them. This book also
introduces lots of other characters as the scope of the world
continues to expand. There’s lots of action, magic, and monsters in
the Kingdom of Zarias. It’s like a tabletop game in novel form. It’s
on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and many other places. If you’re
interested, I would greatly appreciate it if you would check it out
and support me. Also, here’s the link to my new Compendium book about
