On every UFC card, someone is calling out Jorge Masvidal. But who will he actually fight next?
Frank Hyden MMATorch Columnist
I think you either have Masvidal rematch Stephen Thompson or Demian Maia or you have him fight Colby Covington. He’s not quite at that title shot level but he’s really close. One more big win and he’s there. I think the UFC will put him against Thompson next, but you never know with them. They could always go with Leon Edwards but I’m not sure if they’ll think they could sell any tickets based on that.

Don’t know, maybe Colby Covington. Colby and Jorge talk a lot of crap and could sell a pay-per-view pretty easily. Leon Edwards should get a title shot and beat Usman so we can see a title match between Masvidal and Edwards. What we will end up getting is more like Jorge Masvidal vs Robbie Lawler. However, Lawler needs another crack at Ben Askren first. Jorge Masvidal is a threat to everything the UFC is doing so he won’t be receiving a title shot, and he will NEVER fight Conor McGregor.
Michael Hiscoe MMATorch Columnist
As I wrote about last week, I think Jorge Masvidal absolutely has to challenge for the UFC welterweight title in his next fight. A fight with Conor McGregor would be nice, but I can’t see McGregor taking that fight. Leon Edwards is an option due to the altercation they had in London earlier this year, but the 5-second flying knee KO over Ben Askren changed the game, and putting Masvidal in anything but a top-notch fight would be a waste of the opportunity that knee created.
