Rebound

Both Alexander Gustafsson and Anthony Smith will look to rebound from their respective title losses to Jon Jones when they meet in the main event of UFC’s visit to Stockholm in June.

The fight was first announced by ESPN.com and the card is set for June 1 to air on ESPN+. Gustafsson lost a third-round TKO to Jones in December in a rematch of their 2013 classic while Smith dropped a unanimous decision to the champ last week.

The booking will see one of the two men get back into the win column and reinsert himself into the UFC light heavyweight title picture. Jones, meanwhile, appears to be on track to meet Thiago Santos for his next title defence. That is if he doesn’t move up to heavyweight first.

Saturday Notebook

ESPN is reporting that Valentina Shevchenko vs. Jessica Eye for the flyweight championship is being targeted for UFC 238 in June from Chicago.

MMAFighting’s Dave Meltzer is reporting that UFC 235 did between 520,000 and 650,000 buys. This is down from Jones’ last pay-per-view title defence against Alexander Gustafsson, but that card had the benefit of having Cris Cyborg vs. Amanda Nunes as support.

-Conor McGregor has completed his five days of community service and anger management classes according to TMZ. The community service was done at two churches in Brooklyn as a sentence for McGregor’s infamous dolly throwing incident last year.

-PFL will hold a 155-pound women’s tournament featuring Sarah Kaufman and Kayla Harrison.

-Georgi Karakhanyan replaces Ashleigh Grimshaw to fight Emmanuel Sanchez in the main event of Bellator 218 on March 22.
