UFC Fight Night 144 on ESPN+ was this past weekend. Let’s get right to the rundown.

UFC Fight Night 144
GOOD- Sarah Frota vs. Livia Renata Souza
There were some really big strikes landed in this fight, as well as some good grappling. This was a close fight and a well-fought one. Frota missed weight but Souza was able to overcome that and she ended up getting the split decision win. A good and well-earned win for Souza and a tough loss for Frota, who was almost able to pull off the stoppage late in the third round after landing some huge shots. Souza was able to take them and survive, though.

GREAT- Johnny Walker stops Justin Ledet
Walker nailed Ledet with a spinning back fist off a missed kick, followed up with some strikes, and got the stoppage win in fifteen seconds. Jaw-dropping finish. Great win for Walker. Seek this out if you can, great stuff.

GOOD- Charles Oliveira submits David Teymur
Oliveira got poked in the eye early but battled through it and started landing good shots and showing off his submission game. At the beginning of the second round, Oliveira started landing some big shots and dragged Teymur to the ground, where he locked in an Anaconda choke and got the win. Big win for Oliveira.

GOOD- Demian Maia submits Lyman Good
Maia worked his grappling magic and got Good into a bad spot and picked up the submission win about halfway through the first round. Good win for Maia.

GOOD- Jose Aldo stops Renato Moicano
Things started slowly in the first round but heated up quickly in the second round as Aldo came out firing and he plastered Moicano with some huge shots and didn’t let up. It was a tremendous flurry that led to the finish and Aldo showed that he’s not close to being done. A lot of us already knew that but there was some talk, some questions, and it’s safe to say those questions shouldn’t be asked again for a while. Good win for Aldo.

GOOD- Marlon Moraes submits Raphael Assuncao
Moraes dropped Assuncao with some big right hands and followed him to the ground. He kept landing big shots as he advanced his position and he got the neck of Assuncao when he could and locked in the submission for the win. Big win for Moraes and he should definitely be at the top of the list for a title shot. The UFC might not go that way, but Moraes has certainly made a good case for it.

This was a great way to end a really strong card. All the main card fights were good and we got some cool finishes. You can’t ask for much more than that.
