Dana White told the “UFC Unfiltered” podcast earlier this week that UFC had declined to re-sign Northcutt after his contract expired. White intimated that Northcutt should get some fights outside of UFC to get some seasoning before heading back.
Northcutt joins new ONE signings Eddie Alvarez and Demetrious Johnson as former UFC stars now with the Asian promotion.
Northcutt was picked up by UFC and slated to be a future star after appearing on the “Dana White Lookin’ for a Fight” YouTube series. He went 6-2 in the promotion, including winning his last three fights. Most recently, Northcutt knocked out Zak Ottow in the second round of their July fight.

At 22, Northcutt has a long career ahead of him. He has competed at both lightweight and welterweight. ONE has announced that they will be holding lightweight and flyweight grand prix tournaments in 2019, so we may see Northcutt in the 155 pound tournament in the coming months.
