UFC flyweight Racael Ostovich’s husband, MMA fighter Arnold Berdon, has been arrested for an alleged assault of Ostovich and charged with second degree murder. TMZ broke the news Tuesday night that Berdon was arrested and remains in custody in a Honolulu jail.
The second degree murder charge is more severe than the original felony assault charges that Berdon was a suspect for. Ostovich was hospitalized over the weekend and treated for a broken orbital bone and has since been released from hospital. Berdon allegedly attacked Ostovich in their home following an argument.
Berdon has yet to appear before a judge when bail may or may not be set. Ostovich currently holds a restraining order against Berdon. Attempted murder charges in Hawaii carry sentences up to life in prison with possibility of parole. One of Berdon’s family members told TMZ that he “intends to vigorously dispute in court any allegations he assaulted his wife.”
Ostovich has pulled out of her scheduled January fight with Paige VanZant. Most photos of Berdon have been deleted from Ostovich’s Instagram account. Early Wednesday morning, Ostovich posted a picture to her account with the quote “Spend time praying about people instead of talking about them.”
