Who should George St. Pierre face if he fights at UFC 206 (or soon thereafter)?

A paper bag, a referee, Bruce Buffer. It doesn’t matter to me, the fight is in my hometown and, if GSP is on the card, I will sell my soul to see him fight one last time. In all seriousness, I would love a rematch with Carlos Condit, maybe a fight with Robbie Lawler, and if I were really dreaming I’d love the UFC to somehow snatch Michael Chandler from Bellator and have him move up a category (for the record that is 100 percent never happening). I would go to watch him shadowbox for 25 minutes, but the fight I would love to see the most just for my own personal love of the two fighters would be GSP vs. Carlos Condit.

Quick answer, whomever he wants. GSP was the definition of a company man and the UFC ran his name through the mud when he left for his semi-retirement. They did so again recently when Dana White openly questioned if GSP had the heart to return to the fight game. GSP gave the UFC solid PPV business for all of his headlined events and they owe him some loyalty back. If he wants the champ, they should jump to give him the opportunity. If that isn’t possible, let him name a fighter and give that man a contract ASAP.

It’s been roughly three years since we last saw Georges St. Pierre in the Octagon. Back on November 16, 2013 at UFC 167, GSP successfully defended his UFC Welterweight Championship by defeating Johny Hendricks by split decision (47-48, 48-47, 48-47). It was a fight many thought GSP lost, including me.
While it will be fascinating to see how well GSP’s skills have held up after a three-year hiatus, it’s not something I’m all that stoked to see. On a scale of 1-10, my excitement level for a GSP return sits around a 5. I’m not here to downplay GSP’s greatness, but his fights just aren’t that exciting.
As to whom St. Pierre should fight if he returns, my vote is for Anderson Silva. For years the UFC teased a super-fight between the two while they were at the height of their popularity, but nothing ever came to fruition. Should GSP return, this will be the UFC’s last chance to make this fight happen.
