A middleweight fight between former TUF competitors is on its way to UFC Fight Night 91 in South Dakota next month, as the UFC announced this week that Sam Alvey will take on Eric Spicely.
Alvey took part on The Ultimate Fighter’s 16th season, but didn’t get a call to fight in the UFC for a couple years. Since entering in 2014, he’s gone 3-3 through six fights in the organization, losing two straight into this event. The most recent came just last weekend, and he’ll try to bounce back quickly after a decision loss to Elias Theodorou.
As for Spicely, he’s getting an opportunity despite a quick TKO loss in the semifinals of this current season of TUF, which aired earlier this week on Fox Sports 1. Undefeated in his professional career, Spicely has stopped six of his eight career opponents.
The UFC Fight Night 91 event hits Sioux Falls on July 13, headlined by the lightweight bout between Tony Ferguson and Michael Chiesa on Fox Sports 1.
