Anthony Pettis is getting his quick turnaround, and a fight that’s sure to bring fireworks, as he’ll take on Edson Barboza at UFC 197 this April.
The UFC announced the fight on Wednesday night.
Pettis, the former UFC Lightweight Champion, is in need of a high-end performance after losing two straight. He returned in January for the first time since his decisive loss to Rafael dos Anjos that cost him his title, and was edged out by Eddie Alvarez when he allowed himself to be held down far too much in a 15 minute fight.
As for Barboza, the exciting Brazilian has continued to be inconsistent in the cage, and he hopes to bounce back after a submission loss to Tony Ferguson in December. That came in a wild back and forth fight that was one of 2015’s best, but was nevertheless his fourth loss in the UFC.
UFC 197 will be headlined by the UFC Light Heavyweight Title bout between Daniel Cormier and Jon Jones, and airs live on pay-per-view from Las Vegas on April 23.
