UFC on Fox 18 “Johnson vs. Bader” draws average of 2.43 million viewers in overnight ratings

Saturday’s UFC on Fox 18 broadcast drew an average audience of 2.43 million viewers in the overnight ratings, according to a report from TVByTheNumbers.com.

That’s up from last month’s UFC on Fox 17 card, which drew 2.28 million viewers overnight. With final ratings taking west coast viewership into account last month, that event brought an average of just under 2.8 million viewers.

The 2.43 million average viewers in the overnights for the Anthony Johnson-Ryan Bader headlined event is identical to the number drawn overnight by last April’s UFC on Fox 15 event, and higher than the two previous UFC on Fox events. It’s down a bit from last January’s Fox card, also headlined by a first round win from “Rumble,” as his victory over Alexander Gustafsson in Sweden helped draw in 2.82 million viewers in the overnights.

Penick’s Analysis: That’s a really good number for what was one of the weaker Fox cards in the last couple years. It was bye week for the NFL’s playoffs with the Super Bowl coming next week, and there wasn’t much competition overall, so that it was higher than the last two events wasn’t entirely surprising. It’s a little disappointing their title fights can’t draw higher at other times, but they’re keeping a similar amount of viewership from event to event.
