Mark Hunt says he “couldn’t get out of first gear” against Brock Lesnar at UFC 200, credits Lesnar’s strength, size

“No, there was no injures. I just got caught, couldn’t get out of first gear. He was the bigger man and he caught me, you know? Props to him. I just couldn’t get him. He was such a big guy… Look man, I just got caught, you know? I couldn’t get out of first gear. He’s such a big guy, I thought I would be able to stop his takedowns, where his strength was. But he is quite strong. I don’t know how he makes 265 [lbs] is all I can say… I got to get back to training, man”

Penick’s Analysis: Hunt thought he could get his strikes in and avoid Lesnar’s takedowns. Failing to do that allowed Lesnar to keep the fight where he wanted it, and Hunt’s recent momentum was halted once again. He’ll get back into the mix, this division is extremely forgiving on that end, and he hits hard enough to beat most opponents he’ll face. Lesnar did well considering the long time away from the sport, and there’s he did exactly what he needed to do to beat a fighter like Hunt.
