Charles Rosa has his new opponent for Sunday’s UFC Fight Night 81 event, as unbeaten BJJ black belt Augusto Mendes has stepped in for the once-again-injured Jimy Hettes.

The UFC announced the new bout on Tuesday.

Mendes enters the Octagon for the first time with a 5-0 career record, with four of his five victories coming by way of submission. The 32-year-old has fought three of those fights under the Legacy FC banner, and was scheduled to compete on their next event in Minnesota on Feb. 5 before taking this matchup.

He’ll meet Rosa, who has been entertaining through three fights in the UFC, though has just one victory to show for it. He was highly competitive on short notice in a loss to Dennis Siver, then submitted Sean Soriano, and dropped a split decision to Yair Rodriguez. Both of his losses earned him “Fight of the Night” bonuses.

UFC Fight Night 81 hits the TD Garden in Boston this Sunday, Jan. 17, airing live on Fox Sports 1 with a Bantamweight Championship main event between T.J. Dillashaw and Dominick Cruz.
