Quick Pic: Controversial scorecards for UFC 195’s Robbie Lawler-Carlos Condit main event

By Jamie Penick, MMATorch Editor-in-Chief

UFC 195’s epic main event will be the source of controversy for a considerable time moving forward, and the scorecards from the night’s three judges will be a big piece of that.

Here’s how they scored the fight:

Penick’s Analysis: The swing round was the third, which makes sense as there was the least amount of legitimate damage, but I don’t really see the case for Lawler. He landed 11 strikes but only engaged in about a minute total of the round. Condit only landed 22 of 78 thrown, but Lawler only threw 26 total strikes that round. Condit’s activity is the story of the third round, and he should probably be sitting with the title around his waist. Not to take away from Lawler’s performance whatsoever, because that fifth round was damn near transcendent, but he lost the first, the fourth could have even been a 10-8 in Condit’s favor, and he shouldn’t have been given the third.
