An injury to Beneil Dariush has taken him out of a fight with Mairbek Taisumov at UFC Fight Night 81 in Boston, and New York’s Chris Wade has stepped in for the bout.
The change was first reported by Newsday, and subsequently confirmed by the UFC.
Wade, 28, has won in all three of his UFC appearances to date, moving to 10-1 on his MMA career. After a first round submission win in his debut, Wade has scored consecutive decision wins in 2015, most recently defeating Christos Giagos in June.
He now steps in against Taisumov, the 27-year-old Dagestani lightweight who has scored three straight TKO wins into this event. 24-5 overall in his career, Taisumov enters the Boston card off a head kick victory over Alan Patrick in Germany this June which earned him a “Performance of the Night” award.
UFC Fight Night 81 hits the TD Garden in Boston on Jan. 17, airing live on Fox Sports 1 with a headlining bout between T.J. Dillashaw and Dominick Cruz for the UFC Bantamweight Championship.
