Cris “Cyborg” Justino will be fighting at 140 lbs for the first time in her next bout, currently scheduled for November with Invicta FC, and on Tuesday she posted an update on how she’s looking as the cut happens.

Justino is unbeaten over her last 16 fights, and has been angling for the last few years for a bout with UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey. The UFC has insisted she make 135 lbs. before setting that up, and this first fight at 140 lbs will be her first step towards making that a reality.

Penick’s Analysis: We’ll find out in November whether or not she can actually hit the mark, but she’s making her way there. Provided she does, she’s still likely to find the UFC wanting to see her prove she can get that last five pounds down as well. Neither of those things is a given; she’s got to get herself naturally down to a walk around weight where a further cut to 140 or 135 lbs isn’t seriously detrimental to her health. If she can’t do that, the cut shouldn’t happen. If she can do it safely, we’ll see that fight finally happen within the next year.
