Ronda Rousey made another appearance Tuesday on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, promoting her fight next month with Holly Holm at UFC 193.
Fallon set up Rousey’s first comments about Holm with an aside that Holm looked like a nice girl, with Rousey concurring with the comment.
“She’s a nice chick. I don’t have anything against her,” Rousey said (via FoxSports.com). “She’s a nice chick that’s going to lose.”
After getting a laugh from the host by joking that she took her time with Bethe Correia in a 34-second victory in August, Rousey explained why she thinks Holm will be a much tougher fight.
“This one’s going to be a much longer fight because she’s a 19-time boxing world champion with 100-percent takedown defense and, like, head-kick knockouts,” Rousey said. “She’s undefeated and an amazing athlete, definitely the biggest threat to me. Especially on paper and stylistically, she’s the type of fighter you have to be very, very patient with.
“I feel like she’s going to try to keep distance and keep far away from me and get me frustrated until I make a mistake and she can try and kick me in the head, but it’s not going to go like that.”
Penick’s Analysis: Rousey continues to get more comfortable in talk show appearances, and came off as a good guest on Tuesday night’s program. She continues to garner tons of attention from outside the MMA bubble, and she has several more appearances this week to keep that up for the event. That includes several on ESPN today alone, including her guest-anchor spot on Sportscenter later this evening.
